Q:  What kinds of gifts can be made to Arkansas State University?

A:  Most charitable gifts directed to ASU are made to the ASU Foundation, Inc., and are, therefore, tax deductible. Gifts of cash are the most common, but in addition, the Foundation can accept in-kind gifts, gifts of other assets including securities, life insurance, real estate and retirement plans, and other gifts that are made through a person's will or estate.

Q:  May I choose where my gift is directed?

A:  Absolutely. Our primary objective is to honor the wish of each donor. Many alumni choose to give to their department or college, while other alumni and friends choose to support things like KASU programming and the Dean B. Ellis Library.

Q:  How do I send a gift to the ASU Foundation?

A:  Gifts of cash can be given by check and should be directed to the ASU Foundation, P.O. Box 1990, State University AR 72467-1990. Others who wish to give securities, real estate or other assets may contact University Development at 1-888-225-8343, or click here to email for instructions on how to give.

Q:  May I give a gift in honor or memory of someone?

A:  Yes. Any gift can be given in honor or in memory of a friend or loved one. If you wish, notification of your generous gift can be given to anyone whom you may wish to know about the contribution.

Q:  What is an endowment?

A:  An endowed fund can be established at various levels ($25,000 minimum) to create perpetual funding for the cause of the donor's choice. Many scholarships are endowed at Arkansas State University. Fellowships, professorships and chairs can be endowed, as well as building funds. With an endowment, the principle always remains intact. The spending rate is calculated at 4.5 percent of the five-year December 31 market value. All earnings above 4.5 percent are returned to the corpus. An endowment is another good way to honor and memorialize a friend or loved one.

Q:  May I pledge a gift over time?

A: Yes. Gifts can be pledged at various levels, and generally do not exceed five years. It can be arranged for a pledge reminder to be sent to you periodically.

Q:  Can my gift be matched?

A: Many employers match charitable gifts at various levels. For information about companies that match, contact our office at 1-888-225-8343, or click here.

Q:  Can I make a gift to ASU with my credit card?

A:  Yes. Gifts can be made with major credit cards, and all transactions remain confidential. Click here to read our privacy policy. To give a gift with a credit card online now, click here.
